I recently had the honor of once again being part of the amazing magazine Poets/Artists (pages 25-26-27) and honored to say that I’m also the back cover . It was a collaboration issue. I was given the privilege to work with the amazing poet Donna Hilbert. Donna and I choose the amazing actress Giulietta Masina, the wife of director Federico Fellini as our muse. Donna’s poem will make your heart skip a beat… it truly tells the tale of Masina’s magnificent life on and off stage. I think both our work melded beautifully together

Guilittta Hears a Prophecy By Donna Hilbert

If you hit the road with a white clown

you will beat the drum to announce

his arrival, sleep in a tent,

eat soup from a pail.

Travel with a white clown

and you will play the trumpet

for an order of nuns, be abandoned

at the side of the road, wave

to the world from the back of a wagon.

You will sit by the sea and pray.

Marry the white clown

and you will beat the drum to announce

his arrival, suffer fools in his service

be his lover, his cuckold, his muse.

You will close your eyes

when you sit by the sea and watch

the whole circus world unfurl.

You will bury the white clown

after a marriage of fifty years and one day.

And when you die, a few months later

it will be he who beats the drum

announcing your arrival

into the everlasting circus town.

Guilietta Masina, the waiflike actress who became one of Italy’s best-known movie stars, died today in a Rome hospital less than five months after the death of her husband, the director Federico Fellini. She was 73.
